Woodwork seventeenth

This Parisian woodwork, dating back to the seventeenth century and of modest size, was probably destined for a study firm or Studiolo then in vogue in the years 1620-1660.

It is made up of a ceiling with gilded wooden compartments with in its center an allegory of the nobility, a substratum that alternates still lifes and landscapes with medallions painted in cameo, ébrasements and double doors perforated and full Welcoming ornaments and antique scenes in grey...

A richness of ornaments to the height of the complexity of its restoration. After a study phase carried out under UV light and an optical microscope, a protocol was developed for the restoration of the various supports and surfaces: polychrome paint on wood, grey paints, gilded bas-relief, gilded mouldings, Openwork polychromatic reliefs.

It is now visible at the Louvre Abu Dhabi which opened its doors in November 2017.
