Hotel Lutétia

The Hotel Lutetia was built in 1910 by the architects Boileau and Tauzin, at the request of Mrs. Veuve Boucicaut, owner of the cheap neighbour, for whose clientele she wanted to propose a place to stay. The "steamer of the Left Bank" is a unique construction in Paris, a total art project whose decorative theme develops both on the facades and in the lounges of the ground floor, in a singular taste that lies between Art Nouveau and Art deco.

From 2014 to 2018, following the purchase of the hotel by the Set Hotels Group, it was the subject of a global restructuring in order to become the first palace on the left bank.

Borghese Lounge

On the ground floor, the Borghese Lounge, now Bar Josephine, had lost all its superb. The paintings of Adrien Karbowsky, in collaboration with Gustave-Louis Jaulmes, both pupils of Puvis de Chavanne, on the vault and the south wall, were covered with 4 coats of paint and a veil of coarse glass painted in white. In total, the release alone of this unique pastoral work will have required 17,000 hours of work, a particularly meticulous operation given the fragility of the pictorial layer, an oil painting directly elongated on a plaster support so, We assume it, to imitate the matte rendering of a fresco painting. Following the release, a major refilling and remodeling campaign was implemented.

Reception Hall

The reception hall, formerly a Reading room, owes its decoration to the painter Gustave-Louis Jaulmes. Like the Salon Borghese, the 96m2 From the dome of the reception hall had been covered over the decades by layers of paint and a veil of glass. We thus proceeded to the release of these various layers before the restoration strictly speaking of the decor: cleaning of the pictorial layer, consolidation and varnish of interposition, local consolidation of the support in the cracks, recapping, Harmonisation of funds, retouching and restitutions, final varnish.

Circulation

Almost all of the traffic was treated in painted stone apparatus, a part reproducing the historical layout (lobby and large gallery).

President Lounge

Following the original value ratios, a colour setting in a camaïeu of warm grey was performed. The 300m piece2 Was then gilded according to the old distributions found in a polling campaign. The game between two Ors (a yellow gold and a green gold) of origin has been adapted into a dual red gold and white gold patina.

Saint-Germain Lounge

In the Salon Saint-Germain (160m2), after the preservation of the bottom panels of the marble stuccos, a stone effect patina which declined the one of the gallery was carried out, as well as the painting and gilding of balconies and other decorative ornaments.
