Passage Vero-Dodat

At its construction, nothing had been spared to make the gallery magnificent: a pavement with marble compartments, painted ceilings representing mythological subjects. At the time of the work, it had already been 175 years since the gallery had been hit. It was greatly tarnished, remained in its juice. No repainting or almost no cleaning had been done, although the passage had been burned in the mid-nineteenth century. The whole was in a terrible state. The work undertaken in the Galerie Vero-Dodat is an example of complete restoration, combining classical techniques of painting on canvas and murals. The pollution and climate contingencies made the task all the more complex.
